Two separate investigations and a lawsuit have been filed against journalist Alican Uludağ. The Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into Uludağ on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” due to his social media posts regarding the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for the collapse of the Arslan Apartment building on October 29, 2024, which killed four people, and summoned him for questioning. Following a complaint by Supreme Court member and former Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman, a second investigation was launched against Uludağ on charges of “slander,” “insult,” and “publicly disseminating misleading information.” Furthermore, due to Uludağ’s post stating that Berk Akand, who was sentenced to 18 years and 9 months in prison in the Şule Çet case, had been released, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment seeking a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years.
