Journalist Tuğba Tekerek and seven principal members of Kaos GL were arrested after being detained in Ankara as part of the “Ailem Güvende” operation. Ankara 6th Criminal Judgeship of Peace ruled that there was strong suspicion of crime regarding “violating the Associations Law,” “facilitating the publication of obscene publications” and “obscenity in places visible to children.” The judgeship released seven substitute members of the association with a travel ban and a weekly reporting requirement. Five trans women had previously been arrested in the same investigation, bringing the total number arrested in Ankara to 13.
