Decisions were announced in two separate hearings held at Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse as part of the cases against the Democratic Congress of Peoples (HDK). While Dilek Posl, who was tried at the Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court, was acquitted, architect Kardelen Taş was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison on charges of “membership in an organization” and her ban on leaving the country was upheld. On the same day, in a case heard at the Istanbul 25th Heavy Penal Court, journalist Elif Akgül and DEM Party MYK member Mehmet Saltoğlu were acquitted on the grounds that the charges against them were not substantiated. The court stated that there was no definitive and convincing evidence in the files.
