On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a case was filed against 168 women who protested at the Taksim Tunnel and Karaköy Pier in Istanbul in 2024. Eleven months after the incident, the prosecutor’s office prepared an indictment seeking up to three years in prison for 161 women on charges of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and up to six years in prison for seven women on charges of “violating Law No. 2911” and “resisting the police.” The Istanbul 29th Criminal Court accepted the indictment. Two police officers were listed as plaintiffs in the case.
