A court detained teacher D.Y., who climbed onto a water cannon vehicle ahead of Özgür Özel’s rally in İzmir, on May 28. The Istanbul Governor’s Office suspended the teacher from duty on the same day; he is facing charges of damaging public property and resisting the performance of official duties. The İzmir Bar Association stated that the detention was unjust and disproportionate.
