In Tokat, the protest tent of Şık Makas/CRS workers, who have been continuing their resistance for 121 days under the leadership of the United Textile, Weaving, and Leather Workers’ Union (BİRTEK-SEN) demanding payment of their wages, was set on fire. It was reported that the tent, set up opposite the Şık Makas factory, was burned down in the morning hours. Mehmet Türkmen, President of BİRTEK-SEN, stated that the police who arrived at the scene left without collecting camera recordings or evidence. The union stated that there are security guards and camera systems around the factory 24 hours a day and demanded that the footage be examined and the security guards’ statements be taken. The union’s statement indicated that the attack may have been carried out by the Öz İplik-İş Union, which has targeted the owner and workers of Şık Makas. Despite the attack, the workers reiterated their call for solidarity and stated that they would continue their resistance.
