The Ministry of the Interior suspended Fikret Albayrak, the CHP mayor of Akçakoca who was arrested as part of an embezzlement investigation, from his post on May 24. The ministry took the decision as a provisional measure based on the provisions of the Constitution and the Municipalities Law.
