On May 24, police intervened in the sit-in being held by Bilgi University students at the Santralİstanbul Campus. The police cleared the campus, used pepper spray on the students, and detained some of them. Several people were injured during the intervention. The students were staging the sit-in to protest the university’s closure and were demanding that the blockade of the campus be lifted.
