The trial of the defendants in the Kazova Tekstil case was held on January 5 at the Istanbul 14th Heavy Penal Court. The defendants were accused of providing financial support to a terrorist organization between 2013 and 2014. Former Sarıyer Deputy Mayor İsmail Erdem, who defended himself at the hearing, said that the sweaters were purchased from a legal company at below market price, that there was no public damage, and that there was no evidence of a crime in the HTS records. The defendants’ lawyers argued that the witness statements were not based on concrete evidence. The court adjourned the hearing until Tuesday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m.
