It has emerged that Judge Ali Doğan of the Istanbul 59th Criminal Court of First Instance, who presided over the case parallel to the revocation of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s diploma, filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office three days before his transfer to Kahramanmaraş. Doğan claimed that publications targeting him were laying the groundwork for the removal of his authority. Responding to criticism of holding the trial in a large hall in Silivri, the judge reiterated the principle of open trial and argued that the criticism directed at the SEGBIS application had no legal basis.
