According to data from the Internet Society, internet outages and access restrictions cost the Turkish economy approximately $997 million in 2025. The report noted that the BTK’s restrictions on access to social media platforms exacerbated the economic losses. Journalists and publishers, meanwhile, said that access restrictions led to lost revenue and self-censorship.
