On March 27, 2026, security guards at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History, and Geography prevented a student from carrying the BirGün newspaper. Security personnel forcibly took the newspaper from the student’s hands and tore it up. A representative of the Education Union (Eğitim Sen) stated that the action violated freedom of expression and constituted an abuse of authority.
