Four individuals employed by Konak Municipality were detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is based on allegations of irregularities in a service procurement tender conducted under the European Union-supported “Strategic Partnership for Awareness, Climate, and Environment (SPACE)” project.
Those detained include Kamuran Bülent Köstem, R&D Director of Konak Municipality, R&D unit staff, and two individuals working at Merbel A.Ş., a company affiliated with the municipality. The suspects were taken to the Izmir Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit for questioning. The prosecutor’s office is continuing its examination of the tender file and payment records.
