Following RTÜK’s 5-day censorship decision, TELE1 will be blacked out as of midnight tonight. The court had previously imposed a stay of execution on the decision to stop broadcasting, but this decision was canceled on August 27. Unless the Supreme Court reverses the decision, TELE1 will not be able to broadcast for 5 days starting from the night connecting August 31 to September 1. On July 24, RTÜK imposed a 5-day screen blackout and a 5 percent fine on the channel for Merdan Yanardağ’s remarks on July 15.
