Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an ex officio investigation against Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ, Managing Editor İhsan Demir and moderator Musa Özuğurlu for “publicly insulting the President” under Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) due to the subtitle “How is RTE different from Netanyahu” in the program “Türkiye’nin Yönü” (Turkey’s Direction) broadcast on TELE1. TELE1 management made an apology statement stating that the article was accidentally projected on the screen.
