The court ruled in favor of compensation in a case filed against CHP Çorum Deputy Mehmet Tahtasız for his use of the phrase “pure sugar” in a statement. The case, filed on the grounds that the plaintiff’s personal rights had been violated, was heard at the Çorum Civil Court of First Instance. The court ruled that Tahtasız’s words violated personal rights and ordered him to pay moral damages. It was reported that Tahtasız would appeal the decision.
