Calls for support for artist Pınar Aydınlar, who was arrested in the operation against the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), continue. Aydınlar will appear before the judge at Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court on May 13.
While artists called for participation in the hearing to support Aydınlar, singer Zelal Gökçe emphasized that Aydınlar’s voice is a melody engraved in the memory of the people. “The silencing of an artist is not only the silencing of an individual, but also the silencing of the memory of a society,” Gökçe said.
Artist Haluk Tolga İlhan announced that he will attend the hearing on May 13 and called on the art community for support: “Pınar Aydınlar is being held in prison unjustly and unlawfully. All artists should stand by her side at this hearing.”
Pınar Aydınlar is charged with “illegal organization membership” and “making illegal organization propaganda” for her work in HDK and for commemorating Seyit Rıza at a concert in Istanbul.
