Arrested businessman Murat Kapki, in his testimony in prison regarding the allegations raised by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, stated that the handwritten petition titled “Şikayetimdir” (My complaint) belonged to him. Kapki claimed that on July 31, 2025, Mücahit Birinci, whom he appointed as his lawyer, asked him for 2 million dollars in exchange for his release and pressured him to accept a text he did not sign. Kapki stated that he refused to sign the text, saying that it was not true, and that a few days later he dismissed Birinci from his power of attorney and filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office. Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an ex officio investigation into the allegations.
