Bekir Aslan, a GSU student known as “Basel”, was indicted for “insulting the President” for his post on X. With the permission of the Ministry of Justice, the prosecutor’s office cited Erdoğan as the victim and asked for imprisonment from 3 months and 15 days to 2 years and 4 months under Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code. Istanbul 18th Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment; it was announced that Aslan will appear before the judge on October 3. Aslan argued that the post was directed at Netanyahu, not Erdoğan.
