The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 117 people on January 9 on charges of spreading propaganda on social media in favor of the criminal organization known as the “Casper Gang.” Teams from the Istanbul Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit conducted simultaneous raids on 223 addresses in 22 provinces, mainly in Istanbul. During the operations, 96 people were detained; unlicensed firearms and narcotics were seized at the addresses. The prosecutor’s office shared information that most of the suspects had made posts praising the organization on Instagram.
