The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into actor Berna Laçin on a charge of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” over a social media post concerning İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay joining the AKP. On 7 October, Laçin posted on X, referring to Tugay’s party switch, “İzmir was occupied before too, do not be afraid.” Prosecutors cited the post as grounds for the investigation.
