As part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 6 of the 13 members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed who were detained during house raids on December 16 were arrested on December 19. The Legal Office of the Oppressed stated that the investigation was based on events such as picnics, press statements, and condolences. Those arrested were sent to prison on charges of “membership in an organization.”
