The words “Long live Sharia” were written on the door of the SOL Party Istanbul Provincial Organization building during the night. It was reported that the attack took place after party members were placed under house arrest for their anti-Sharia banner activities. At the same time, it was reported that an anti-Sharia banner hung in Üsküdar was also attacked. SOL Party Central Executive Committee Member Attorney Deniz Demirdöğen stated that banners had been removed before and judicial proceedings had been initiated afterwards. Demirdöğen noted that house arrest orders had been issued for six party members in the last two days and that the attack on the provincial headquarters was deliberately carried out when the building was empty.
