Twenty-six people detained in the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s bribery investigation targeting the Buca Municipality were referred to the courthouse. The prosecutor’s office had issued detention orders for 28 people, including the Licensing and Inspection Director, on allegations that licenses were issued in violation of regulations in exchange for bribes in zoning and planning procedures. Izmir Police Department teams detained 26 people in an operation on February 6. I.B., C.B., C.Ş., G.P., M.G., C.S., and S.K. were arrested and brought to court, while 19 people were released under judicial control. It was reported that efforts to apprehend two suspects, including one who was determined to be abroad, were ongoing.
