The third hearing of the trial against the dismissed Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Özden Kaboğlu and members of the board of directors was held on January 5 at the Marmara Prison Complex in Silivri. In the trial, which is ongoing at the Istanbul 26th Heavy Penal Court, the prosecution sought punishment for the defendants on charges of “making terrorist propaganda through the press and media” and “publicly disseminating misleading information through the press and media.” Kaboğlu requested that an application be made to the Constitutional Court on the grounds that the relevant types of crimes were contrary to the Constitution, but the court rejected the request. The trial was postponed until January 6.
