More than 600 scientists, including Nobel-laureate academics, supported Asst. Prof. Bülent Şık after the 1-year 3-month imprisonment sentence issued against him for sharing data of the Health Ministry’s cancer research with the public. Academics, including Noam Chomsky, Judith Butler, Bruce Alberts, Nancy Fraser, Elazar Barkan and Nobel-laureate Eric Wieschaus, Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, Jack W. Szostak, Roald Hoffmann, Robert Curl showed solidarity with Şık and demanded for the imprisonment sentence to be reversed by the appeal court.
