Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 20 held the trial of 7 people on charges of participating in the Saraçhane protests that started with the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP’s presidential candidate and IBB Mayor. The court decided to lift high school student F.E.’s ban on leaving the country and to get an additional expert report and adjourned the trial to February 10, 2026. Student F.E. stated that he was unlawfully detained at the exit of the subway and that he was not holding a banner. Lawyers argue that the police warning was not duly issued
