RTÜK Member Tuncay Keser announced that 51 percent of RTÜK’s sanction decisions in the last 5 years were annulled by the Council of State. More than half of the decisions against channels such as Halk TV, NOW TV, Tele 1, KRT and Habertürk were found inaccurate. Keser stated that this rate is too high for an independent and supervisory institution and emphasized the need for more objective and law-based decisions. He stated that unjust decisions harm freedom of the press and cause public damage.
