The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) fined Tele1, Halk TV, SZC TV, Rumeli TV, Netflix and Spotify for various broadcast violations. Tele1 and Halk TV were fined and suspended for Merdan Yanardağ’s “Islamist fascism” and Tolga Yarman’s allegedly sectarian discriminatory remarks. Comments on SZC TV were accused of targeting state institutions. The movie “Barda” on Netflix and songs on Spotify were penalized for “violating public morality”. In addition, the ban on some news websites that were blocked from access was lifted.
