Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has included President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the “Enemies of Press Freedom” list, which it has published for the first time since 2021, under the category of “legal pressures.” RSF reported that 20 journalists have been arrested in Turkey since the beginning of the year, with three journalists still in prison. The statement noted that journalists in Turkey are systematically targeted on charges of “spreading misleading information,” “terrorist propaganda,” and “insulting the president.” Alongside Erdoğan, Putin, Aliyev, Orban, and Khamenei were also included on the list. RSF also designated the Israeli army as an “enemy of the press in the security sector” due to attacks on journalists in Gaza.
