Lice Co-Mayor Rezan Zuğurli was acquitted in the case she was on trial at Diyarbakır 10th Assize Court due to the protest she participated in against the custodies of Diyarbakır Co-Mayors on 25 October 2016. Zuğurli was also dismissed from duty and a trustee was assigned to replace her.
Zuğurli has been on trial with an imprisonment claim for up to 25 years due to ‘illegal organization membership,’ ‘illegal organization propaganda,’ ‘praising the crime and the criminal’ as well as ‘participating in illegal demonstration.’ Zuğurli is currently in prison, together with her baby, due to the definitive sentence of imprisonment against her issued within another file.
