It was alleged that citizens were not allowed to attend an informational meeting organized by a mining company in the Arslanköy neighborhood of Mersin and that some environmental activists were beaten by security forces. The Mersin Environmental Platform stated in a statement made in front of the association that the meeting was manipulated with forged signatures, saying, “We will not allow attempts to silence the public.”
