Şaban Vatan, the father of Rabia Naz Vatan, who was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison
on July 14 due to a lawsuit filed by former minister and AK Party MP Nurettin Canikli, was released after 38 days.
Vatan, who has been fighting for justice for 7 years for 11-year-old Rabia Naz, who died suspiciously in 2018,
made a statement after his release: “Our struggle is justice for Rabia Naz. We will continue until the end. We will never give up.”
Vatan had claimed that her daughter had been hit by a vehicle and that Canikli, the AKP deputy at the time, had covered up the incident.
Within the scope of the lawsuit filed by Canikli, he was sentenced to a fine for “insult” and imprisonment for “disseminating personal data”.
