The 30 workers of the AKP-affiliated Şavşat Municipality, who were not reinstated despite a court ruling, set up a protest tent in front of the municipality building. Mayor Durmuş Aydın cited the “financial situation” of the municipality as the reason.
The workers, who were dismissed after the local elections, have not been reinstated for more than a month despite winning their lawsuits. Protesting against the decision, the workers set up a tent and started resistance.
Representatives of the Belediye-İş Union and the workers said, “We won the lawsuit, we want to return to our jobs” and called on the municipality to implement the decision. Workers stated that they will continue their resistance until they get their rights.
