According to the BİA Media Monitoring Report, at least 29 journalists were arrested, 3 journalists were placed under house arrest, and 58 journalists were detained during the year. The report stated that journalists were tried under the Turkish Criminal Code (TCK) and the Anti-Terrorism Law (TMK), that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed heavy fines on opposition channels, and that access restrictions became widespread. The report also emphasized that a total of 28 attacks against journalists were recorded in 2025, that many journalists were threatened, and that press freedom seriously deteriorated.
