During the campaign launched by Student Collectives to increase KYK scholarships, the families of university students were threatened by the police under the guise of “informing” them. The police called the father of a student who was making a statement in front of Parliament and said, “Your daughter has become a political figure, she could be targeted, detained, or arrested.” Similar threatening phone calls were made to many families. University students will deliver signatures to Parliament on December 15 demanding that KYK scholarships be set at half the minimum wage, that all loans be converted into scholarships, and that loan debts be written off.
