CHP’s “The Nation Possesses Its Will” rally started in Beyoğlu. Before the rally, a photo of arrested Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney with his family was hung in the municipality building. However, the photo was soon taken down by the police. When CHP Leader Özgür Özel took the floor, the photo was put up again at the municipality building. Before the rally, Istanbul Governorate closed some exits of Şişhane metro station for security reasons. It was announced that only Kasımpaşa and Refik Saydam exits could be used.
