Journalist Cihan Acar and Media and Legal Studies Association (MLSA) Co-Director Veysel Ok were sentenced to five months of imprisonment each due to “publicly insulting judicial bodies of the government” (Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code) after Ok criticizing the Criminal Judicatures of Peace in an interview made by Acar, that was published on previously shut-down Özgür Düşünce Daily on December 25, 2015. Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance deferred the announcement of the verdict.
