DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Kezban Konukçu brought the December 16 raids on the homes of three LGBT+ activists in Ankara and the experiences of trans activist Ilgaz during her detention to the Parliament’s agenda on December 24. In a written question addressed to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Konukçu asked about the legal basis for the dawn raids, the extension of detention periods, and allegations of strip searches and interrogations without lawyers. Konukçu requested clarification on whether there is a special interrogation procedure for LGBT+ individuals within the police force.
