3rd Criminal Chamber of Istanbul Regional Court reversed the acquittal decree issued for Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TIHV) Chair Prof Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu and writer Ahmet Nesin, who were on trial due to participating in the “Substitute Editing-In-Chief” campaign started for solidarity with Özgür Gündem Daily. The appeal court found the local court decree, which was on the substitute editors-in-chief not having criminal liability, against criminal procedure.
Istanbul 13th Assize Court had previously issued the acquittals of each three names, who were charged with “making terrorist organisation propaganda”, “public incitement towards committing a crime” and “praising the crime and the criminal.”
