Days before the local elections, candidates from opposition parties are being continuously targeted by government authorities, especially Erdoğan, and threatened through the “judiciary.” Information that is of the quality of “tagging” started to take place in pro-government media organizations against the candidates of the opposition. Open identities, photos and all intelligence records taken by the government against 325 people, who had no obstacles against their electoral candidacy, took place in the news on Sabah and A Haber, in their official form.
Broadcasts listed information on candidates from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Good (İYİ) Party, Felicity Party on legal events and programmes they attended, as well as information on their relatives with accusing expressions. Information was provided on the candidates with individual names on visiting their friends/relatives who are arrested due to illegal organization membership, having a relative who is an illegal organization member; as well as other information on participation in legal party congresses and being association members.
