According to data compiled by BBC Turkish, since the March 31, 2024 local elections, mayors in more than 30 provinces and districts have been arrested, removed from office, or had trustees appointed in their place. According to the compilation, 22 of the mayors subject to these measures were from the CHP, and 11 were from the DEM Party. The report lists investigations and the appointment of trustees in numerous municipalities, including Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, and Van.
