BİRTEK-SEN President Mehmet Türkmen was sentenced to 6 months and 7 days in prison for “incitement to commit a crime” and the sentence was postponed. He was acquitted of the charge of “insulting judicial bodies”.
Türkmen had been detained for 140 days due to his support for the labor protests in Gaziantep Başpınar OSB. On July 4, his house arrest order was lifted. The verdict hearing was held at Gaziantep 55th Criminal Court of First Instance.
