The investigation opened by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Ferhat Çelik, the Editor-in-Chief of the Mesopotamia Agency, on the charge of “making propaganda for a terrorist organization”, resulted in non-prosecution. The journalist, who was detained in Istanbul on January 4 as part of the investigation and was released by the court one day later, was charged with 16 news stories published by the agency between August and September 2020.
