A new indictment was prepared against Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is under arrest within the scope of the investigations against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, on the charge of “insulting a public officer due to his duty”. The indictment demands a prison sentence from 9 months to 4 years and 1 month for İmamoğlu’s statements against two prosecutors on March 23. In the indictment, it was claimed that the statements in question exceeded the limits of defense and damaged honor and dignity. İmamoğlu denied the accusation and argued that he made criticism on behalf of the public. The indictment was accepted by Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
