The Mesopotamia Women Journalists Association (MKG) stated that pressure on journalists increased in October. The report stated that investigations had been launched against four journalists, four journalists were still in detention, two journalists had been subjected to ill-treatment, and three journalists had been prevented from following up on news stories. It emphasized that investigations and access restrictions targeting the Kurdish press had become systematic. The MKG stated that the criminalization of journalism was a direct attack on the public’s right to information.
