Hacettepe University Rectorate has launched an investigation into students who participated in boycotts after March 19 and attended the opening of the Youth Film Festival. The students are accused of chanting slogans during the boycott, writing “boycott” in front of the cafeteria, and attending the festival opening event. A total of 1.5 years of suspension is being sought, with one semester for each of the three separate charges. Student Collectives stated that the investigations target the pursuit of democratic rights on campus, declaring, “Repression cannot intimidate us.” The students also pointed out that no investigation has been launched into attacks carried out by groups wielding clubs on campus.
