The Ministry of Justice has requested urgent information from the prosecutor’s office on the release of lawyer Burak Saldıroğlu, who was arrested on charges of “insulting the President”. Saldıroğlu was arrested for distributing Imamoğlu’s blocked X posts on the street and for comments he made about Erdoğan on social media. His lawyers stated that the Ministry’s request for information after his release puts pressure on the judiciary and is against the rule of law. It was emphasized that TCK 299 is subject to the permission of the Ministry but does not give the right to intervene in the judicial process.
