Mine workers and union officials protesting in Ankara over unpaid wages and other labor receivables at mines operated by Yıldızlar SSS Holding were detained again. Police detained Bağımsız Maden-İş Organizing Specialist Başaran Aksu, union official Eyüp Can, and two miners outside the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The union’s General President Gökay Çakır was detained at the union headquarters in Soma. Çakır was accused of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” over the union’s social media posts.
