The detention period of TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanardağ, who was detained as part of the “espionage” investigation, has been extended by 24 hours. In the same investigation, a trustee was appointed to TELE1, the channel’s live broadcast was stopped and a tape broadcast was started. Yanardağ described the detention and trustee decisions as a “heavy blow to press freedom”.
